I, like many little girls, grew up hearing, watching, and reading fairy tales about how the princess meets her prince.
The fair princess may eat an apple and fall into a deep slumber and then have her prince sweetly kiss her on her perfectly rose colored lips to wake her.So when my friend asked me to please go on the blind date with her friend's son, I reluctantly agreed to go. In spirit of a blind date, I did not know much about the young man other than he came from a very nice family and was home from college on Christmas break. To say we were not a good match is really an understatement.
She may prick her finger on a spinning wheel to have the same fate as the aforementioned princess.
Or, she may kiss a frog to have him turn into her very own prince.
And then, in the middle of the party where he took me for our blind date, I saw him. The blue eyes. The boo-tay. And I just knew.
The only words he had spoken to me were, "Excuse me." But those two words were like sweet honey to my ears. I kept hearing them over and over. "Excuse me." I'd play it over in my mind a million times before the party ended. There was no way I could leave my blind date to walk over to another. But my mind had already left.
The party ended and my date took me home. I certainly wasn't present in the date at this point. I hadn't been since I'd looked up and met those eyes. It was like I was floating out of my date's car to my front porch. I took the key from my purse to go inside. I turned to thank my date and then... BAM!
His face was about four inches from my own and quickly getting closer.
You may have to date a frog before you find your prince, but you certainly don't have to kiss him!
